Fresh Ingredients

We strive to use fresh and locally grown or purchased ingredients as we can find.
The Free Range Eggs come from Farmer’s Hen House of Kalona, IA.
The non-homogenized whole milk we use is from Country View Dairy, located in West Union, IA.
Our organic lettuce comes from Rolling Hills hydroponic greenhouse, also from West Union, IA.
The coffee we brew is from fair trade beans roasted by Capanna’s of North Liberty, IA

Made From Scratch

All of our delicious baked items are made from scratch. Our signature Soft Pretzels are baked fresh each day. The Cinnamon Rolls are also a specialty item and are absolutely delicious. We have amazing muffins with some of the best-tasting options this side of heaven. Chocolate chip cookies are also available. Ask us to heat any of the baked items to give it a “fresh out of the oven” softness.

Friendly Atmosphere

We invite you and your friends to come and and enjoy a friendly encounter with us and with new friends. We hope you also encounter good food and some of our great hot drinks as well as some wonderful cold drinks. The Encounter Café exists for more than food and drink sales. We want to learn to know you and provide an atmosphere that is comfortable and peaceful. In other words, like good friends and family atmosphere.
